The Girls on the Run Spring 5k was a wonderful success! We had over 900 girls complete their first 5k and over 2000 total participants. It was such an awesome day with a great crowd cheering on the girls. I had the pleasure of running the 5k with the girls which was such a wonderful experience. It is amazing to see the girls out there pushing themselves, encouraging each other and working to accomplish a goal they have been working towards for months. I had a blast out on the course with them and did get some looks in my costume! My favorite part of the race is standing at the finish line and watching the faces of the girls as they cross. Their sense of pride and accomplishment is so great to see and often times brings tears to your eyes. I am so honored to be a part of such a wonderful organization and am so thankful for everything GOTR has given to me.
The GOTR 5k was my last run in costume for my fundraising efforts! A big thank you to my awesome co-worker and GOTR supporter, DaNelle Jenkins, for making me a fabulous 80's fashionista! The outfit was a blast and a hit at the GOTR 5k. I even gave DaNelle a visit in costume to her jewelry show at crafty Supermarket where I got lots of looks but why not spread GOTR love wherever you can! Thanks DaNelle for a fun final costume and to everyone for your support along my fun and crazy GOTR running adventure. I could not have done it without you!!! My final fundraising amount was $1,949 which passed my original goal of $1,800 to support one full team. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I have the best friends and family I could ever imagine and your supported is more appreciated than you will ever know. Also, a big thank you to GOTR Cincinnati and GOTR SoleMates for your support along the journey!
